CelSafe Technology™ Material
This material combines the most powerful acid vacuum ever created (120 times better than any classic museum grade acid vacuum available today in the market). This acid vacuum was specially design to keep your cel safe from vinegar syndrome degradation. It targets and captures the acetic acid released naturally by a cel during time and neutralizes its propagation. By using this exclusive CelSafe Technology™ material in every frame kit , we guaranty that your cel will not trigger the vinegar syndrome reaction when framed.
In addition, our CelSafe Technology™ material is capable of capturing more than 150 “dangerous” gasses, from carbon monoxide to any solvent gas, therefore it will also protect your cel from any exterior attacks that can deteriorate your cel over time.
Our material also features a humidity buffer that will keep the inside of your frame at the right relative humidity level even if your home gets high humidity level ( until 65% of RH ). And of course our material is PH neutral so it will not damage the gouache paint with time and keep the plasticizer of the tri-acetate safe inside the cel.

Our Exclusive CelSafe Technology™ material was designed from the start to protect your cel from the vinegar syndrome degradation. Maximum Museum grade UV Filter plexiglass
At CelOasis, it took us more than 7 years to find the best museum glass for animation Art… we have tried and tested every single one of them, and in our lab tests, we have gotten some surprises…. some very famous brands were actually terrible! No names here 🙂
But for some time now, we have found the best one that exceeded every expectations for our cels. We use the maximum ( 99% ) UV filter “glass” available today on the market in the full spectrum of UV-A, UV-B, and UV-C. These are the highest Museum grade available today!
They also possess one of the best color fidelity you can find today, this means that there is no change in tint of the colors of you cel when it is placed under our “glass”.
Our “glass” has No chemical UV treatment or coating. Indeed, these chemical UV treatment can release dangerous gasses inside the frame that can hurt your cel. The UV treatment of our “glass” is actually part of the material itself, so it is perfectly safe for the cel.
In addition, our “glass” doesn’t use any type of “anti-reflection” coating because this coating, as the chemical UV treatment, can be harmful for the cel, and on top of that, it changes the tint of the colors of your cel.
How can this “glass” manage to combine all these benefits ? Simple, this glass is actually a plexiglass! By using this
highest Museum grade plexiglass, your art will have the best UV protection available today and the best color fidelity without interfering with the good health of your cel. No real glass today can achieve that.
CelSafe Technology™ Mat boards and Back boards
Every Frame kit comes with 3 Mat Boards. They are 4 ply Mat Boards made of our exclusive CelSafe Technology™ material that prevent any deterioration of your cel that comes either from outside of the frame (dangerous gas, humidity) or inside the cel itself (vinegar syndrome). Every Frame kit comes also with 1 Back Board made of our exclusive CelSafe Technology™ material.
We offer 2 colors of Mat Boards and Back Boards : Black or White because they are the only 2 colors that actually use NO dye for colorization. Indeed every other color, even museum grade will release dangerous gasses inside the frame that can hurt the cel over a long period of time.
Aluminium Museum quality frame
The frame itself was also carefully chosen to avoid any type of possible damages on the cel. During our Laboratories tests, only one frame passed them all. It is made in the highest Museum grade black aluminium ONLY! No wood of any kind… Because wood can actually damage cels over time. Indeed, if the wood is not treated, it will absorb the humidity in the air and release it inside the frame. And if it is treated, the varnish or paint or both, will release some harmful gas inside the frame.
In addition, our aluminium frame is only available in black because it is the only color today that matches the highest museum conservation standard, this color is the only one that releases no gas whatsoever and that is PH neutral .
No harmful dye or glue anywhere
Inside our CelSafe Technology™ frame kit, We don’t use any glue of any kind to hold the frame together, because even in museum grade, glue can release dangerous gas that will damage your cel overtime. Without glue , our frame kit will keep the good health of your cel for a very long time!
We don’t use any dye colored of any kind either, because even in museum grade, dye can release dangerous gas for the cel. That is why we only offer 2 types of color ( black and white ) for our Mat Boards and Back Boards, and only one color ( black ) for our aluminium frame. They are the only colors that don’t use dye!
Frame NOT sealed to keep your cel breathing
Generally speaking, one common mistake that people make when they frame a cel is to seal the cel inside the frame… this seal framed will unfortunately damage the cel over time. Indeed, during our Laboratories tests, one of the things we discovered is that a cel inside a frame needs to “breath”!
By not sealing the frame, no gas pockets can stay captured in the frame between cel layers that our CelSafe Technology™ material cannot access to vacuum. After many test in laboratories , we find a way to have optimal air circulation in the frame. To do so, we apply just the right amount of pressure on specific zones on the Back Board to keep the cel in place but not enough to block the air circulating inside. From our lab test , it takes generally between a week and 10 days, for the entire air inside the frame to get replaced. This gives the perfect air cycle to prevent any gas pocket to form.
User friendly Framing kit
Our Framing Kit system is the easiest way to frame a cel, no professional expertise needed! We have created our system to be the most user friendly possible. We wanted to avoid any risk related to shipment ( damaged or lost cels ) to our facility… And to avoid any unnecessary cost due to shipping. That’s why we have created a Framing Kit, that you will receive directly at home. You don’t need to send your cel to us to frame it, instead, the frame comes to you!
After receiving your Frame Kit, you just need to follow our guide (included in every frame kit), step by step, and you will be able to frame your favorite cel in less that 10 minutes! it’s a very easy process that anyone can do. The only tool needed is a flat screwdriver. Your cel will finally get what it deserves… to be treated as a real piece of Art safely hanged on your home’s wall!
CelSafe Technology™ Frame Kit limitations
Our CelSafe Technology™ Frame Kit is the best way to keep a cel safely and we stand by this statement.
However it is not magical, it was created with the collaboration of scientists and museum conservation experts. And science has its limitations… So first of all, it is important to understand our Frame Kit will protect your art from the Vinegar Syndrome but it will not treat it! So, you cannot frame an Art that has already the Vinegar Syndrome without treated it before!
Our CelSafe Technology™ Material cannot protect your Art if it is placed in extreme condition…
So it is very important to keep your Frame Kit always between 15 and 25 degree Celsius and between 40% and 50% of relative humidity. So there is some obvious places that you cannot place your Frame Kit :
- Any rooms with high humidity like bathroom, restroom or kitchen.
- Above or close to any heat emitter like chimney or heaters.
We use the highest Museum grade UV Filter plexiglass on the market. However even with this maximum protection against UV, you cannot place your Frame Kit :
- In direct contact with sunlight .
- In direct contact with any UV emitted lamp ( like neon light).
